And Nami? Nami who used to wear shirts suddenly likes wearing bikinis all the time now? Well, Robin always dressed provocatively (which is part of her character), but now? The way she's portrayed just screams of ecchi. I thought this was just in the anime so I checked the manga, and all i could say was: Imagine my horror, then, when about three years later, the watermelon boobs started appearing in OP. I was so proud when i told them that "One Piece is not like that".

My friends (who were then new to anime) also watched FT and were also thoroughly disgusted. I became so disgusted with this style, that even the awesomeness of Gray could not keep me from vowing to never watch that anime again (and imo, the plot of FT was getting tedious anyway). But to that extent? Why the obsession with the boobs? Like, why? I get it that it's a shounen manga, and it needs to cater to boys. You can always count on at least one girl ending up with her clothes all torn up-and the tears will almost always conveniently reveal the chest area. Don't believe me? Try watching the fight scenes. Which would have been fine, except that the boobs seemed to be the only aspect of the girls that were being given attention.

But the fact that every single girl there (with the exception of wendy, what a relief) seemed to have watermelon boobs. When Fairy Tail started getting famous, I tried watching it. The females in OP were headstrong, independent. One of the things I had always liked about it is that the females were never portrayed as accessory characters that were only there to catch the interest of hormonal teenagers. I've been a fan of one piece for more than 15 years now: starting from liking their cool fights and flashy moves as a kid and actually following the story and connecting to the characters as a young adult.
